I am a German blogger, author and former bank auditor and management consultant. For more than thirty years I worked as an auditor and consultant, holding the licence to examine and lead complete banks. Hundreds of banks were audited under my responsibility.
In April 2010 my son Bernd Seiffert, an IT specialist and human-rights activist, was fatally injured in a hit-and-run accident in Mönchengladbach. The driver fled the scene and left him to die.
In close cooperation with the police and the public prosecutor’s office I launched what became known as the first major private Twitter manhunt in Germany – later called “Fahndung 2.0”. At that time I had the largest German Twitter network (approximately 380,000 followers). Through real-time updates we collected an extraordinary number of tips within four days. The perpetrator was caught and later sentenced to nine years in prison for negligent homicide and attempted murder.
The campaign is widely regarded as the birth of “Fahndung 2.0” in Germany. It demonstrated the reach of social networks and contributed to the decision of German police forces to establish their own social-media teams. The search was always conducted in full cooperation with the authorities; no private data of suspects were published. The case received extensive nationwide media coverage between 2010 and 2012.
Today I continue my work as a private blogger and author. On X (formerly Twitter) I have more than 200,000 followers under the name @SunnyRainer. Because of this reach and my public activities, Google and other platforms classify me as a person of public interest.
My writing focuses on practical philosophy – what I call “kitchen philosophy” – Christianity in everyday life, the Enlightenment and Freemasonry. I see these three traditions not as contradictions but as complementary paths that all call us to act with courage, compassion and practical wisdom.
In 2010 I was admitted to a Masonic lodge in Aachen and served as Worshipful Master in 2017. In 2020 I briefly entered local politics as the lead candidate and chairman of a regional voters’ initiative in Aachen.
For many years I have collected and shared more than 2,000 carefully selected quotations from philosophy, religion and literature. These quotations, together with reflections and photographs from my travels, form the heart of my blog. The wisdom I have passed on to others has also helped me continue after the loss of my son.
My guiding principle remains unchanged:
